This fabulous and most spectacular of the Romany caravans of the mid-2oth Century was in need of a lot of TLC. It had had a near death experience by fire, with damage to the trims and fixtures whilst also suffering from a number of leaks which had caused damage to the panels and the structure itself.

first thing was to take off all the decorative panels and remove the damaged trims. Then off came the aluminium sides to replace the rotten frames wherever we found evidence of water ingress.

We mass filled the voids with rigid insulation rather than the original fibreglass which had actually allowed water to track much further than the area originally affected by leaks.

Next was the arduous task of stripping all the paint off, it was interesting to find the original pale cream colour underneath the panels - we will be matching that later.

Meanwhile the huge task of polishing the aluminium trims begins. This is quite simply a mammoth job! There are 100s of pieces, pitted, corroded, dull and ugly pieces - but with a lot of hard work they can be brought back to glorious bling again. But its going to take many 100's of hours of work.
